    It's a neat thing but you don't mention anywhere in the video that it has a subscription fee. You only show it after user opens an account or they scroll all the way to the bottom on the website. It kinda feels wrong

    Im sorry for the inadequate comment here, i truly need to know this, its been really tough for me to figure out ita answer from searches. whats the amount of money you need to pay to create a dev account and afterwards upload a game to steam, is it 100$ for account and 100$ for game upload meaning 200$? Or is it 100$ for both account creation and game upload together?

    Kinda sad you did such less money ;( But the price tag was also quite tooo low.. 0.99£? Just bought it on steam to support you ;) Sorry, that i wont play it, not my kind of game ;)) Anyway.. most common issue with actually not earning enough money with games is the direction of the game itself.. Most uf us, including me.. wants probably make a game you would enjoy itself and it's very likely that this is just not a strong selling genre.. I mean.. everyone starts out with platformers.. nobody cares about platformers ;) If it's really about money, we have to do research first, what kind of genres actually gets buyers accross different studios. FPS as an example.. nobody buys fps from small indies.. there is only 3-4 major brands that controls the entire market... so creating an fps is a waste of time and you will most likely not even earn 1000$ in a year. platformer, vr games, racing games.. you wont earn anything.. metroidvania.. hard market.. simulation, rpg, more complex games.. now we are talking.. but those needs a lot of time and needs to be complex, but these are the kind of games, that sells accross the board.. but thats the problem.. if you need to make a game for money and you actually dont like these kind of games? whats the point ;)) i for myself.. i'm concepting a game, that is not strong selling, but i am passionate about it, so i don't expect to earn what i invest, but i think i create tutorials while developing, maybe making a course out of it and aim to sell and get the money back with the course incomings, instead of the game sells.. issue is.. marketing is expensive and you need to cross-sell your work as good as possible - not just the final product itself.

    now game changed i remember in 2014 i was make daily between 700 to 1100 euro from free game (admob) and the game was just reskin was easy to make money now is defferant you need to run ads

    Hey! Awesome video and congratulations on your success :) I have some questions that I would love if you’d answer: - Did you use paid advertising to get your game out there? - Now a days, what would you do for mobile: just premium version or free w/ ads version (and premium)?

      Back in 2013/14, premium only was a lot more viable. We made two great trailers, and did a lot of reaching out to press (eg TouchArcade, PocketGamer) and UA-camrs covering mobile games - nailing that pitch was an important first impression. We didn’t do any paid advertising, but showed the game at regional games events that were free, and we’d built up our Twitter with regular updates on progress. Did a timed free demo build for EGX. These days, everything is harder, but the principles are the same. Premium can work if your game suits PC and console too. Use every opportunity you can. Personally, I’d go with freemium with pay to remove ads, and design around lots of in-game unlocks which can be unlocked with ad views also. Hope that helps!

      Hey 👋 Yes I did! This project is all in C++ and OpenGL from the ground up! It was a lot of work hahah! but it’s achievable with discipline and grit. 🥲 I can’t give any pointers but I do have a talk about Game Feel on my channel which may help. 🙂

      Been using Mac for a while but it was Windows before that. Specifically, I’m using a 2017 MacBook Pro (base model). It’s due an upgrade though if I’m honest! 😊 It’s always low on storage.

    It's a shame you've not managed to achieve as much as you'd like but considering the year I think it's awesome you've managed to have that long term contract and keep one foot in the youtube and game dev spaces. I hope you can get round to more goals this year. As for my own goals. I had planned to try and be more social in 2020 but that was put to the side by lockdown. Going into 2021 I think I have some similar goals to you. Move house & finish my game project.

      @@forceofhabit oh well. Hopefully 2022 and onwards are better 😀 2021 was pretty good thanks. I released that game and started a new one. I didn't move house but I did get a new job and should be moving this year.
